Hellas Basin

One day this area will be a harbor off of the Hellas Sea. The basin can be seen between the hills just under the sunset. It stretches well over the horizon from there. It is slowly being flooded by underground aquifers released by mining. Mars is still too cold to hold liquid water on the surface, so the released water quickly turns to ice. Although some pockets of ice turn to small pools of water during the hottest days of summer.
